The Community Garden vision started in 2016. A group of Michigan Tech students did a class project and came up with a plan for a community garden within Osceola Township. The initial garden was to be located in Dollar Bay, at the corner of Fir Avenue and 5th Street, on a spare lot owned by the Township. In 2020 the Community Garden project was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Portage Health Foundation. Initial planning and work began in 2020, with the actual construction beginning in May of 2021.
